Caring for your oil painting
Your painting has been varnished with Gamblin Gamvar to protect its surface from discoloration, dirt, and most stains and spills.
You shouldn’t need to do anything more than gently wipe the painting with a cloth or duster to remove any dirt or dust from the surface. A wet cloth (water only) can be used to gently wipe away debris or soak up liquids.
If necessary, Gamblin Gamsol can be applied with a soft brush or cloth to safely remove the varnish. A layer of Gamvar will need to be reapplied.
Caring for your print
All prints are made on Hahnemühle’s William Turner watercolor paper. Its heavily textured surface, which translates the quality of an oil painting better than any I’ve found, requires careful handling to avoid scratches and scuffs. Use a soft brush or cloth to gently remove dust if needed.
If your print shipped rolled you’ll need to uncurl it before framing:
Keep your print inside the plastic sleeve
Lay it flat and place something heavy (books work best) on the edges
Let it rest for a day or two before removing it from the plastic sleeve
I know all of this can be intimidating, so feel free to contact me with any questions you have.
